A lifetime dedicated to horses
George’s passion for horses started early. At just eight years old, he joined the Four Burrow Hunt Pony Club, throwing himself into everything from Prince Philip Games and tetrathlon to hunting and hunter trials. Those early years gave him a real love for competition, teamwork and horsemanship.
After leaving school, George dedicated himself fully to learning every aspect of riding and training, working with horses of all breeds, ages and abilities at a busy dealer’s yard. He later studied at Talland School of Equitation, gaining Stage 2 and Stage 3 qualifications alongside teaching certificates.
George has produced and competed his own horses, qualified horses for British Dressage Regionals, twice qualified for the National Championships, and competed nationally in British Eventing one-day events, including winning the first two-day event he entered.
Alongside competing, George has always enjoyed helping riders grow in confidence and ability, from complete beginners to experienced competitors. His aim is to create a positive, encouraging environment where both horse and rider can thrive.
In 2008, George became proprietor of Chiverton Riding Centre until it later became a dedicated RDA centre. In 2015, he began building his own training and schooling facility — now the fully operational Cornwall Riding Centre we know today.
